​What is Al-Anon?
Al-Anon is a worldwide fellowship that offers a program of recovery for the families and friends of alcoholics. It provides a supportive environment where individuals can share their experiences and find strength and hope through mutual support.

Who Is Al-Anon For?
Al-Anon is for anyone who has been affected by someone else's drinking. This includes:
  • Spouses and partners
  • Children and parents
  • Friends and coworkers
  • Anyone impacted by a loved one's alcoholism
You do not need to wait for the alcoholic to seek help. Al-Anon is here for you.


Common Feelings Before Joining Al-Anon

  • Anxiety

  • Sadness
  • Depression
Al-Anon meetings offer a safe space to process these emotions and begin healing.

The Role of a Higher Power
Al-Anon is a spiritual program, not a religious one. Members are encouraged to define their own concept of a Higher Power. This spiritual foundation helps:
  • Build inner strength
  • Foster acceptance
  • Encourage personal growth

What to Expect in Meetings
Al-Anon meetings are:
  • Confidential
  • Welcoming
  • Non-judgmental
  • Free of charge
You’ll hear others share their stories, and you’ll be invited to share when you’re ready. There’s no pressure to speak. What you hear, what you say stays in the meeting.
